In 2024 ESPA provided over €10,000 in legal support to our members on individual member issues across EirGrid and ESB.

ESPA is currently engaged in negotiations with the company on paytalks, terms and conditions along with mileage and expenses.

We are the only Association representing EirGrid workers and have secured substantial improvements on terms and conditions for our members.
ESPA is the Engineering and Professionals Branch of Unite the Union in Ireland

Developments
The 2023 Supreme Court ruling in H.A. O Neil v Unite the Union: This case reaffirmed the rights of unions to organize and picket, strengthening the interpretation of the 1990 Act. It clarified that when unions follow proper procedures—like holding a secret ballot and giving notice—courts cannot easily grant injunctions to stop industrial action.
